hello fellow MFKs... I need some help with my 2 ornates. i dont know why they are soooooo shy. and they don't come out to eat too. whenever they come out, they just swim around frantically and sometimes they ruin their own tails. Literally hurting themselves as i can sometimes see red blood clotting on their fins.
Why is this happening? i just got them for 2 weeks now. I put them together in a tank with 2 small senegalus, 1 small knife fish, and a small pleco.
The rest of the company has good eating habits, unlike the 2 ornates...
Can anyone help me on this??? Tnx...

might just still be adjusting, or maybe agression from the senegals. Maybe try re-arranging the tank decor to discourage any territorial behavior.

Beyond that I don't know what it could be, but I'm sure someone else will have more suggestions. good luck

probably just getting use to your tank Ornates usually hide alot and arn't a very active poly some times polys swim around a tank really fast for no reason Senegals do this alot

My Ornates do that when they see their reflection, that could be it.

Hey thanks a lot for all your ideas and suggestions. After re-arranging the tank and changing new water. They now come out to swim even if i'm around. at least they're not so shy anymore.Although sometimes they still swim around frantically...and Rockbass6 is right, they do that when they see their reflections. hehehe a lot of lessons we're learned here... thanks to you guys!!! more power!

my ornate never hurts itself, but when it's stressed, it will frantically swim up and down at the glass

So i guess its normal to some polys to sometimes swim around like that huh? well... Anymore wierd behaviors you might wanna share mfker's?

mines swims around like crazy O_O
