back in Feb when I got them, the 5 ornatum were only 1/2"-1" and I put them in a 55gal.
The largest are now little over 3", so after I moved the Uruguayans to the pond, the 5 ornatum, 5 Guianacara targets, and a few tetras as dithers are now in a 100gal, and some of the snippyness has abated a bit.
I'm glad you have the patients for the types of fish that you keep they all look great!! Hopefully your successful with pairing and spawning the ornatums
Nice Ornatums, I didn't know that Guianacara could live in the same tank with Ornatums, hmmm... Your Ornatums, really look good , I like the Guianacara in there with the Ornatums, as they grow that should be a nice tank
They are looking good! I have a 6 1/2 inch one that I have been growing out for 2 1/2 years from a 1/2 inch. Mine has proven to be a very slow grower but his colors are really starting blossom. A really cool species to keep.
I agree they are slow growing, 2 of the 5 are 3", the other 3 are barely 2".
Guianacara are geographically incorrect, but they are very active, constantly picking on each other, but seem to ignore the ornatum, so they are a good distraction to keep the ornatum from beating up on each other. The Guianacara are also slow growers, even slower than the ornatum.
They were also a convenient target fish for me, as I have 10 and divided them between 2 tanks, I had picked them up at last years gcca Memorial Day cichlid classic. I hope to find other great deals at this Sundays classic auction, maybe I'll see some of you there.
