Very much south..
what can I say? This guy is awesome. He respects the Midas's, ignores the Dempseys and Texas and somewhat harasses my 2 Jaguar males ( I will have to keep a watch on this last aspect ).

As stated, he took to pellets upon entering the tank, just does not pick them from the surface yet. Only timidity signs I see is when I approach the tank. He is no glass banger yet, but with his tank companions I am sure he will be begging for food at the top in less than one week.

The pix are from my phone ( sorry )

It is the first Ornatum I got to see live. He was for about a year at a Colombian facility before coming to my knowledge.

In this case, saying "pics don´t do him justice" is clearly an understatement.
I saw the animal and he is fantastic (what a head !)
Congrats, Miguel

Nice looking Ornatum :) What size tank do you have them in? I wonder how big do they really get...

Mine is at 12" and doesn't seems to grow much anymore. They say 16" but never seen anything that pass 12". Even the ones that are being ship here from the wild are at 8-10".

I have no exact idea, but surely beyond the 10 inch mark

i've seen a few of these in person and have to agree this is one fish that doesn't translate well onto photographs. they're absolutely stunning in the flesh and look so-so in all the pics i've seen
