Ornatum Update- 6 months on

Evening all,

I'm sure i'm not the only one who got these, but being in the UK, Cichlasoma Ornatum are very rare. I got my little guys at just 1" about 6 months ago;

Well, 6 months on, they're still going very strong and are very healthy and happy, though rapidly outgrowing their tank;

They're not as big as I had expected but at 4.5", the largest is voracious and a great little character. I'm pretty sure I have a male and female, though that's based purely on size- the large 4.5" being male, while the smaller one, is just 2.5" which I'm guessing is a female.

How are everyone else's Rapp babies going?

Mine's doing fine, I only have one. Lost the female when the male went on a rampage. Yours seem to be coming along very nicely.

Oh, kicking myself! I passed on a group thinking I'd get some down the road but no dice. I need to set up a spot in the crib for these for sure.

I think there very nice specimens. Very nice looking, good colors and all. What are there "personalities" like...... a wet pet or just hard to find for now?

6 months makes a lot of difference, the colors are coming along nicely... Looks really good

Mine's starting to get personable. When I first got him I was worried because they hid whenever I came up to the tank. Now he's in my face when I get there...not a glassbanger, more like he's greeting me or begging for a snack lol.

I think I'd of seen more growth if they were in a larger tank in the first place but they've certainly grown well in the little 20g.

Balton, what have you seen in the way of growth since you got yours? I recally you got yours at about 4-6"?

I estimate about half an inch per month.
