Okay as of late my O's have been eating frozen bloodworms. Is this okay for thme as there main food source. My red will eat pellets i usually feed him 1 at a time then give him a cube. The tiger witll chew then spit out any pellets but will devour the bloodworms. And what else can i feed them?? shrimp, worms....??TIA

Mine eats bloodworms, shrimp, pellets and brineshrimp i try to mix it up on him . If you stick with one thing i found they get picky lol not a word usually heard about oscars

Worm's ex: blood , meal , nightcrawler's , earth .. are all good . krill shrimp even store bougght from your local grocery store.. fish filet peice's ..

if he spit's out pellet's try cichlid stick's , they are supose to curve fish from live food . only time will tell.. :D

Thanks yea i rarely feed them live food.trying to stick to things that will have there size up real good.

the main diet of my tiger is bloodworms, hikari pellets and krill.....he seems to like krill more then anything ............it seems to help him grow a lot faster too.........

They like to crush the food and suck juice/small particles too then blowing the rest out until they get used to it. They are eating some of it I would bet, and they have horrible table manners. One tip is I always strip the exoskeleton from crustaceans before I feed them because they will just spit it out most of the time anyways. Look on the bright side, a varied diet is important for their health and nutrition as well.
Everything mentioned above will benefit your Oscar.

Do you have juvie oscars? If you're looking to get fast growth in your oscars, you're wasting time with blood worms bro.

When power feeding juvies, I'd stick to the "micro" pellet size of hikari cichlid gold, then gradually increase the size of the pellets as the O's grow. You can also break up spirulina discs, which adds diversity to their diet, and promotes color. intensity.

Are you familiar with hole in the head? Feeding just bloodworms will probably lead to that. Also check you nitrates and nitrites. O's are really messy and it doesn't take long for your water to go bad. When that happens, many fish species get finicky or stop eating entirely.
