Oscar aggression

Hi everyone I have 2 oscars in a 6x2x2 aquarium! One is 11 inches the other is about 5-6 inches! The bigger one has started to chase the smaller one quite a lot lately could this be that it’s two males or is the bigger just showing the smaller one who’s boss of the tank? Should I rearrange the tank layout out? The tank is quite heavily planted in the middle and one end has a large piece of bog wood and the other end has a large plant pot would just swapping wood and pot to the opposite sides work?

You could try giving more hiding places for the small one

That's a beautiful stand/canopy! I'm thinking of getting an Oscar for my 125G tank. I'd probably just get 1.

the Smaller one doesn’t really venture to the other side of the tank but yeah I will add another pot to the other end! I usually feed them that end so that’s where they usually go as soon as I go near the the tank!

I’m hoping for the smaller one to get big enough to handle himself! I’ve only had him since March the bigger one I’ve had for a year!

You are correct there will always be a hierarchy with Cichlids. The largest Oscar is the boss . Tbh you may have to divide or seperate the Oscars. The biggest Oscar was in the aquarium first so he/she has claimed it.

Thanks guys that’s why I was thinking of changing the tank around! Is it always the bigger one claims the tank? When I change it round would it help to put the smaller one in first?

It's not guaranteed to work but yes put smaller Oscar in first.
