Thinking about picking up an 8-9" oscar. Wondering if there would be any issues between it and my school of 7 clown loaches that are 4-7". They would be in a 4'x2'x2' 120 gallon tank.

small ones could be an option for dinner, doubt he could get it down but might try. I wouldn't be too worried as long as they are kept fat and happy

just from my experience, I have a 9 or 10" oscar in a 125 with 3 clown loaches that are probably only about 3 inches and I don't think he even notices them. They have decent hiding places and I doubt he could catch them unless he cornered them but hes to lazy for that kind of chase. I think youll be fine with that size

Always a risk with cichlids. I personally wouldn't try it with loaches that small.

I had one oscar didn't bother them even small ones , my other oscar however considered the smaller ones lunch.

Sounds like a good way to kill off the smaller loaches and possibly the oscar.

Oscars are pretty mild. As long as you feed on a regular basis they should be fine.
