Oscar and cuban pairing up

I think my cuban cichlid and my oscar have become boyfriend and girlfriend.
they hang out together exclusively and have become very aggresive to all other occupants of the tank.. including the pleco, Ive had to remove my poor texas cichlid who was getting beaten up on both sides.
I dont think cubans and oscars can breed but is it possible they are trying?

how big is the oscar??? usually oscars show no interest in breeding W/ anyone else except other oscars. also i think they have to be about 6" to be sexually mature.

oscar is about 8 inches and the cuban is about 5 inches

Oscars have a very species specific breeding ritual, so they may continue to behave as a pair, but I doubt they will actually try to breed.

Oscars breed with oscars. Not cubans, or convicts, or any other fish. It'd be great if they could cross, but this is the reality of it all.

My Red Devil is trying to get my Oscar into breeding, the O is having none of it.

yeah i dont think they can successfully breed but from my experience they are pairing up at the moment. il get some vids if i can.
