they have been in a 100 gallon tank together for a week now but still face off...i have moved decor around also took out the oscar while redecorating their territories..would dithers help? they dont really hurt eachother much..please any help

think its just seeing who's going to be the top gun in your tank. Displays of dominance. Fighting will probably stop when one will have 'dominated' the other.

:iagree:

My oscars and jag face off quite often, but if they are not hurting each other, it's not a problem. They will calm down after they have decided who is the "boss".

:iagree: too..

Just need one more piece of information from OP: What are the sizes of the two fish?

Good luck,
Sid

They fight, not only for dominance, but because you only pulled the Oscar out. Next time, pull them both out, rearrange, then put them both back in. Right now, your Jag thinks its all his/hers and the O is invading. I'm not sure how much space a Jag needs to "call his own" but I do know an Oscar will claim a minimum of 50gal of space.

Oh the O is about 11" and the Jag is 8" and Pjsmetana u have a good point ..i will have to do that on my next WC .. Right now they both stay on heir own side of the tank and the Jaguar has re-arranged a wall ( literally) of gravel all over the front ..ill post pics tomorrow!

So im going to clean ,re-arrange the tank and take both out for a bit while doing so in hopes of a happier tank..because i am losing my patience with my oscar losing a scale here and there..but i will do what is suggested and go from there!:nilly:

good luck...I'm not sure how well it's going to work out though. Personally I don't think 100 gallons is enough room for a large jag and another cichlid. Jags require a very large amount of space to call their own before they can be tolerant of other tankmates. I had one many years ago that grew up on the bottom of the totem pole in a 125 gallon but became tank ruler at around 7-8" and claimed over 3/4 of the tank. Yours is just now getting to that point where its true personality is coming out so keep a very close eye on them.

thank you for the feedback I am currently 75% leaning towards selling him because i have had my albino since he was 1 1/2 " and just got the jag so he wold def be the first to go but i am going to give it my best shot.. again i thank you for your insight.:D
