I recently lost my albino oscar who lived in a 75g and I loved having an oscar but since i still live with my parents ( Im 15) they made me get rid of the 75g. A couple of days ago my friend who has a 20g long tank and he stupidly bought a 9 inch oscar off of craigslist and stuffed him in there. So i made him give me it because the poor thing could barely turn around. I had an empty 40g that was cycled with water from my convict and senegal bichirs water about a week ago that he is currently in. So my question is if i grew the longear up could it live with the oscar happily in the 40 gallon for at least 6 months or until i can work up the funds to get another 75 gallon for the oscar. I have been looking at another sunfish after my bluegill died in February and would really appreciate any advice you could give me. I have access to a 7 inch bluegill that someone is looking to get rid of if that would work better.

based on my longears, at the temperature you need to keep the oscar, the longears will rip it to bits. but then you could turn the heater off so the longears would be comfortable.

Dont do it.
