I have a half grown oscar in a tank with a 13" sailfin pleco and the sailfin and the oscar had a scrap and the oscar has been left severly injured. The pleco in question is known to be a very teritorial fish and not as placid as the other ones i have. The oscar is a real mess it hs no scales left on one side of it, there are flesh wounds and it has damaged eyes. it just tends to lay on the bottom of the tank and seems to have a nervous twitch.
i have put a divider in to keep them apart.
i dont know whether the oscar will survive or not, experience tells me that it doesnt look good. i have treated with melafix and salt baths, he seemed to perk up a bit but now hes looking worse.
The pleco has got to go so i either let him take his chances with a mystus wykki or give him back to the shop, it a dilema because i cant lie and say its peaceful as the next unfortunate owner may suffer s well.
