I'm getting my tank on Tuesday and I'm just wondering, Baby or Adult? I like the idea of having a small baby oscar that can get to know me and all but about the Adult: I like the idea of having a HUGE monster in the tank and filling up a lot of tank space whereas the baby it seems like there's barely anything in it which I would count as a con. I also like the idea of feeding him/her live food. I'm also getting another O, a 3-4 inch Jack dempsey, a pleco (Haven't picked a size out yet, Probably adult) and 4 Adult clown loaches. I don't mind that the loaches are adults, The O's are the main feature. Any thoughts? Thanks.

First off, what's the tank size?

And for my opinion, I like getting babies and raising them to large sizes, but it's really up to you.

I almost always grow my own fish up from small. I do it that way so you can make shure they have been fed a good diet. Also helps growing fish out together adults can be harder to cohab. Dont worry bout them being small though in no time they will be monsters. BTW what size tank are you getting? Good luck with your new setup you should post some pics of it when its up and running.

Thanks man, It's a 150g.

*EDIT*: I was also planning on putting a ghost knife in there, Just not sure if he would fit, Still not sure though

Thanks, As I said in my old topic I will be posting pictures of the start to beginning, From the setup process to the finalization of having all my fish.

I know what you mean man, I'm VERY Excited, My first big tank. But anyway, I might get babies since my LOVELY future jack will probably get tared to pieces by big O's :)

Im excited for my first big tank too! Currently on the lookout for a good deal, but all I can find is jacked up prices for saltwater tanks and 4 foot long 120's when I need a 6 foot long tank.

Your probably right about the jd problem. I'd also be worried bout the clown loaches if they aren't big enough.
