A couple or more questions:

I just rescued 2 oscars (1- is orange and tan, 1 is tan with orange speckles and an orange and black 'eye' on it's tail) :DCraigslist :D They are inseparable and very shy. They lay on each other as they swim. Is this normal? They were in a really small tank before. I have them in a 90 gallon now. Also there is a little Jack Dempsy that was with them. He is quite skiddish as well. None of them like you to be near the tank and if you are you have to be very still. They eat well and seem fine. But is this normal? Oh they are about 5 inches and the JD is 3 1/2 inches.

1. What is best substrate for these guys? They are of course dirty little guys and the large rock gravel I have is too tough to 'vaccuum'.

2. How often should I do water changes with 2-oscars, 1- JD, and 1-pleco? (Selling pleco but he's in there for now) I am doing once a week aprox 45% of water.

3. Do they often chew and spit out food? Or is it just my cooking?:( Gold pellets.

:popcorn:Thanks awaiting all the wisdom on the way!

yep my two oscars are also impossible to seperate, except when there lip locking, hehe
gravel pea sized or sand.....
i have a 566litre tank and change 2 times a week, 300litres per time,,,

yes they end up spitting more food from the gills than actually swallowing it,,hehe

Thanks guys!! I also heard it was okay to put clown loaches in with oscars? What's your thoughts. I can move the pleco out and put in a herd of 4 loaches. This might cut down the spewing mess????

A synodontis will do wonders for cleaning up after the oscars. You can get them at PetSmart. I don't even feed my synodontis, he's enormously fat just from cleaning up what everybody else spits out.
