In A Van Down By The River
I think that my oscars are about to breed. They are in a tank with a few convicts. Is it possible my convicts are keeping my oscars from breeding? Should I Remove the convicts and put them in a 10g with a baby stralight pleco bout 2 1/2''?

The oscars are pretty big one is about 12 and the other at 10. The will turn real light in color and vibrate their tail then lip lock. They swim over to a spot and act like they want to lay eggs but a convict will always come along and chase the oscars off. Could a few convicts stay in a 10g with a baby starlight pleco?

Yeah you could move the convict to your 10 gallon. But either their getting ready to spawn or that's just normal O behavior..............

Might be mating dance might not. Have a fish or two for the pair to protect their spawning site can be helpful sometimes. Give em some slate in one end n cover front of tank at that end.do daily water changes. Cl

you could move the con if you want but the 10 gallon would need to be a temporary solution as it would be too small for a con for very long.

how big is the oscar tank? it is possible that the distraction could be preventing them from breeding.
