I got a 2.5" female albino oscar from petsmart and my wife got another albino male from my lfs. As soon as they were put together it was an instant attraction . They been hanging out together since . How big will they need to br before they lay eggs. They are in a 55 gal now . I Will be upgraded to a larger tank in the future.

How do you know their sexes? They usually don't breed until 8"+ by which time the 55 will be too small.

For Oscars you have to wait for them to sexually mature. They have to be about 1 year 1/2 & will most likely be around 10" if not larger. Also, I'm not sure if venting works on Oscars. Only way that I know to tell the sex of the Oscars is after they've dropped their tubes & observing them during a spawn.

Good Luck

When I had oscars, I get 3-4 and chances are a couple will start to get along and start kicking the odd one's fish behind together.

Well it easy to tell the difference with this pair . The female is white almost completely white and the male has the tipical tiger oscar look. And I did vent them before I put em together.

I'd like to see pics of your fish venting & why you think you can ID their sex. (Easy for this pair) according to you

Oscars are sexually monomorphic, meaning male and females have no identifying marks. The only real way to sex Oscars is to vent them. They take over a year to mature and just because you put a male and female together does not mean they will pair up, I heard they can be quite picky about picking mates.

i will take some soon, but the female has her tube down a little bit and the male is opposite there isnt really anything.

Just because the oscar are attracted to each other doesnt mean they are a pair. Ive had four Os at one point and they were always following each other around. You cannot tell the sex of oscar by looking at their colors. Oscar colors vary ALOT.
