I have 2 oscars in a 75, They have been in there together for almost 6 months and been fine. Just recently they have began, what seems to me courting each other, They quiver at each other and occasionally lock lips. But today I got back from class to find both of their mouths pretty tore up and missing some scales on their side. They wont leave each others side but still seem pretty tore up. Should I leave them together or separate? Should I be worried or just let it play out.

Just keep an eye on them. I have bred Oscars on many occasions. When I was in college the babies I traded to LFS in Terre Haute kept my hobby going. Anyway the will tear each other up some times. Be looking at there undersides to see if the female's egg chute starts to be visable. Make sure you supply them a flat rock or large round rock they can lay their eggs on. Also you can stimulate this by adding some cooler water and changing up their food add some live worms or Crickets.

Stick a slate of rock inside your oscar tank..........Oscars usually lay eggs on flat rock..........

I agreee that a 75 gallon tank is small for Oscars ... However it is big enough for them to breed. I have had them Breed in 55 before getting larger tanks.
