hello i was just wonderiung if anyone knew how to breed oscars? like how to tell if there male or female, best way to set up tank for them, food theylike?
how to determine if there ready to breed, do they need to be a certain size?

Well, I'm 99% Sure that they need a HUGE tank. I'd say they'd be at least 9" before breeding.

They need a 125G minimum. Buy 6 oscars under 4" and let them pair off. You cannot sex oscars as they are immaterial.

There is a problem with this as well, as Oscars can pair up with the same sex, and even if they do pair up with the opposite sex, there is no way to tell if they will successfully breed.

Have a pair in at least a 75 gallon tank. Up the temp to about 80-85 feed 3 times a day and do weekly water changes.

That size tank is far too small. 120G min.
The temp at 82 is plenty warm enough. 85 ish is discus temp.
You should already be doing weekly water changes. But make them 40-50%

hey. i have tryed to breed them before but it never happened but i plan to try it again. hopefully i get something. well before when i tried i had a red and tiger oscars. they paired up for a nice time but the problem was i had a blue lobster in with them and they had so many battles. i think thats one reason why they didnt mate because my tank was not safe for their eggs and another reason is that they might have been the same sex. but you should try again

umm i heard that a male oscar would have a sort of lump on their head and a females head would have a smooth head. hey thats what i heard

You heard incorrectly. You CANNOT sex Oscaes by looking at them, venting is the only sure way. Oscars DO NOT grow nuchal bumps on thier foreheads.
