I have been doing research for my oscar and clown loach tank and just wanted to make sure I was keeping my fish at a temp to suit both species.

Based on my research, oscars like 70-82*F and clown loaches would like 78-86*F. i was thinking of a temp of 80*F? Would this be good for my fish?

Also, I noticed oscar like a pH between 7.2 and 7.8, while loaches prefer 6.0 to 7.0. what would be a good pH?

Thanks!

Neutral pH

When I had O's in 80+ degrees, they became more aggro. and hungry.

I run all my tanks at 78-79. The only time I go above 80 is for ich outbreaks. That being said, I han't had ich in years and probally just ginxed myself.

Clown loaches do fine at higher pH values (mine are in pH 8.0), so I wouldn't get overly concerned about the pH. IMO it's best just to keep the water parameters stable.

Warm temperature does increase metabolic rate thus they become hungrier.

I've had great success with a temp of 82 deg F and a PH of about 6.5. It works for me.

The temp is pretty stable around 80 right now, might raise it a little more to combat the disease potential. I have stopped worrying about the pH, the fish seem fine and I don't want to dump buffer in every time I change the water.
