Saw some small baby oscars at my LFS and they had good black coloration they just had little to no orange on them. Will they gain orange as they grow or should i just wait for a new order to come in?

not sure but i heard that when oscars grow they lose color..

probly just a common oscar. most of the small tigers i see have a decnt abount of orange in them.if they are like one inchers they wont show much red. buying 3inch plus you can tell what the color and shape will be. doesnt cost that more.its sweet watching them grow though.

Yea its a tiger oscar they are bout an inch but ive seen some that small with a lot of orange these had barely any if any at all

oscars color dose change alot as they grow. There was a time when my O was growing up that he had hardly any orange now he has a decent amount of color, he is in my avatar. I would wait a get a nice looking baby with lots of color!

yea i want to wait, but these guys are on sale for 4 bucks!! and my luck goes that next week when their shipment comes in they would be back up to 10. Hehe 6bucks isnt a big deal just trying to save some money ! Do you have any pics of your oscar of what he looked like and compared to your avatar?

The babys have no orange in their "stripes" but the stripes will orange up as they grow up to about 2-3 inches. The "stripes" then change into a more oscar like pattern as they grow.

heres a couple of what mine looked like when he was less than a yr
