In search of Leiarius
are oscars and angelfish compatable, if raised together from jeuveniles.
and are oscars temperments the same from juvie to adult.

in my experience with my oscar... he'll eat anything that fits in his mouth (including my festae and jag he outgrew) :( and the oscar will def outgrow the angelfish.

ummmm MAYBE if the angels are full grown and you add Os as babies then it might work, since angels have a very tall body the O might not think they will fit (i had Os that grew up with tiger barbs and never once tried to eat them though i only kept them till they were like 7-8in but still at that size they could have easily ate the barbs) but adding them both as juvies probably wont work as the Os will grow faster than the angels and be big enough to eat them in no time, and about their personality changing, i would say they do become more agro towards other Os as they get older IME but still stay docile towards other fish (Os arent really aggressive IME just big pigs and always on look out for food)

I would not expect an Oscar to eat or bully a fully-grown angelfish, but every fish is different.

Umm its not a good idea. Angles are slow moving peaceful fish. Oscars like to nip and can get territorial. I would not try it.

No, angles are degrees from 0 between two divergent lines.

Angelfish are aggressive, fast-moving jerks who could easily hold their own with most other fish. My five angels were a regular brawl (injuries common) before I added the green sunfish to make them all submissive (injuries rare). And I had a single angel with an Adonis pleco awhile ago, and she was totally eye-for-eye if he got spunky. If something in your tank gets its butt kicked, don't fall for the angelfish's innocent looks.

I had my tiger O @ 1" with a fully grown angel and it was good for about two days and then on the third it looked like chris brown had been thru the tank!!!!

I think your average full grown Oscar would torment, stress, injure or kill your average full grown Angel Fish... Though I confess there are exceptions to every rule…

The overall size and attitude of an Angel Fish is large and cichlid like, so the Oscar will see it as competition for resources, and will thus treat it as such… even though most of the Angel Fish’s size is fin, and in all reality this 3 ounce fish won’t be able to do much at all in defense against the 2 lb Oscar…

And an Oscar would not see a Barb as competition for resources, so it is not wise to compare an Oscar’s response to Barbs to predict an Oscar’s response to Angels…

there is a possibility that it can work. i agree with sarah, in the sense that you would have to get juvie oscars and larger, amture angels. with fish, size matters.

Ive owned several Oscars and all of them have been tempermental at one time or another. But if you keep an Oscar well fed with plenty of space they tend to be more mellow. Let them get hungry or crowd them, and they will do alot of damage in a hurry.
