Firstly, I wanna move my oscar outta my 6ft by 3ft thousand litre tank. He is terrorising my pacu. Which in turn upsets the whole balance of my tank. The thing is I only have an empty 60 gal to move him into. I am loath to move any fish into a small tank, but he is damaging him self when the pacu bolts and he gets slammed into the glass if he is near the top or sides. And he isn't stopping. Would he get depressed if I moved him? When they aren't fighting, or when they scared like when I dig in tank, they are always together side by side. They have grown up together from inchlings, I separated them for a little while when the oscar was 6 or 7 inches, and he seemed to get depressed with only catfish companions. Would you say I should move him? Or just leave him.

I knew I was gonna get comments about the pacu. I have tried to get rid of him for the last year now. I've even offered to pay people to take him. The only ones willing have smaller tanks than mine. And that's unfair for him. I'm not going to euthanise him either. Just for being what he naturally is. I bought him under false info. Not knowing he was a red belly pacu. And now I'm stuck with a 55cm long, 10cm thick fish. He is gentle, beautiful and I've run out of options for him, hopefully ill find someone with an indoor pond or large enough tank at some point. Now, this thread is about my oscar?

well you could save up and get the pacu its own pool...... of just move the oscar

I wouldn't worry about the Oscar being depressed about being moved into a smaller tank if that is your only option at this time.It should be fine in the sixty for a while.

Haha Ive had to do this with Oscars and I know what you mean. Very melodramatic. My O did nothing but laid on the bottom for over a month but eventually kicked his depression and went back to normal.

Move the O he will be fine with a 60
