Oscar Eggs. Fertile or not?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hard to tell after 24 hours, I've had eggs that still look fertilised after 48 hours when there has been no Male in the tank!

Yours do look a bit milky at this stage though, they are normally more translucent but I've never seen Oscar eggs before, it might just be the way they are...

I would say no from the picture. They look awful white, and if they were fertilized they would be a translucent brownish colour.

i was always told white is non fertile and tan is fertile. but from my own experiences i say whites are decaying eggs and the tan is not. i dont think you can tell if it is fertilized or not. IMO.

umm so where have you seen oscars bred??? the bath tub?? that's fairly common for them to spawn in tanks......what kinda fish do you keep? cichlids??

they shouldn't be white at all i'd remove them after 48-72hrs if your fish don't eat them they will just rot. if it's your oscars first spawn they often don't know what they are doing.......kinda like teenagers one member said. haha it may take them several trys

was that supposed to be funny??? :screwy: just because i have never seen them bred in tanks doesn't mean they aren't. i was just saying that it was interesting, because i always thought they spawned in the wild.

and yes, i have kept cichlids in the past...what's your point? now i keep flowerhorn. does that satisfy you?
