well my two oscars just laid their 1st set of eggs doesnt look like very many i got home tnite and there they where they seem to be light brown or tan in color which i think means they are fertilized not sure tho. what should i do with them? they are in a tank with two stingrays and 2 4-line cats and a lima shovel nose. i attached a picture of the eggs. i do think i want to try and raise they fry mabye sell the babies. just have no idea how to remove them or even what to feed once they hatch. the parents are a oscar thats mostly bright red and one that is cammo colored with a red eye spot on its tail. what will the babies look like?

you should take them out and put it inside a breeder tank.. and then wait 2 weeks.. until they are free swimming frys...

Colors should be interesting..... could be red and cameo color or a mix...

its such a waste not to see how they look like.. so def find out what they will become......

but dont expect to get much money from them.. most ppl hate oscars..... ;)

Congrats on you batch :)

When the eggs do hatch and the wigglers are out of the egg case then you can start feeding them baby brine shrimp or finely crushed flakes.

I've never had Oscar's breed, so I have no idea what they would be like as parents. I would suggest using a divider to keep everyone away from the babies.

It sounds like with your current setup the fry will be eaten if the parents don't eat the eggs first.
If you want to artificially hatch the eggs, here is how:

Fill a 10 gallon tank with 80 degree declorinated water.

Add methylene blue (most fish stores sell it) until the water is dark blue color. I add about 25 drops to 10 gallons of water.

Place the rock that the eggs are on in the 10 gallon tank with an airstone right beside it to create water movement over the eggs.

The oscar eggs should hatch in about 3 days. About 4 days after they hatch they will become free swimming. That's when you will want to start feeding baby brine shrimp either live or frozen. I like to use decapsulated brine shrimp eggs. It's easier than raising your own brine shrimp.

it seems like the eggs arent really stuck to the rock im not sure really scared to move them cuz the oscars may attack me ass well lol, but i do wanna see what they will look like so im gona attempt to move the eggs today

nothing to worry about, it is very easy to raise these guys if you do as BobP suggests with the meth blue and the airstone. And its amazing to watch them grow and just how fast do they do grow. Mum and Dad WILL attack your hands so be sure to screen them somehow. Get someone to hold a board between them and the rock as you lift it out.

i got it out but was bitten quite a few times rather scary at first but doesnt hurt to bad, i ended up setting up a ten gallon with a long airsone a small internal filter and a small heater just havent gotten the chance to get the meth blue yet. iv had work like crazy

The eggs can hatch without the meth blue but from my experience about 90% fungus. The remaining wrigglers end up getting caught up in a web of fungus and die. At least you know what to do next time. Good luck with any fry that make it.
