So, my biggest Oscar is quite the picky eater. We got him some pellets that after a while, he refuses to eat.

The problem is, he won't eat smaller pellets and those are the biggest we can find in our area. It's like try to feed a kid brussel sprouts. Sometimes we can trick him and he swallows it, and then he spits it right back out.

Does anyone have suggestions of a website we can order larger sized food from?

We're also willing to make him his own food or pellets if anyone has any recipes. My concern with a lot of the recipes I've been finding is that they are meant as treats and won't provide him all of the nutrition that he needs.

He LOVES feeder fish but we don't give him those too often because his tank mate died a few months ago from eating a bad one.

Please help! He can't live on freeze-dried krill and treats forever.

Thanks!!!

DONT FEED HIM FOR A FEW DAYS AND HE WILL COME AROUND SOONER OR LATER. IT COULD TAKE A WEEK. HUNGER WINS EVERYTIME. LOL.
WHAT KIND OF PELLETS?

He hadn't eaten for over a weak and he was just lazing around and was uninterested with the outside world. I'm pretty sure he would've starved himself to death. And I don't really want him to come around eventually, I want him to like the food he's eating. I don't want it to be a chore to keep him from starvation.

Thanks! We will look there.

What size tank is he in and what type of tankmates are in with him? I second kensfish.

He's in a 30ish gallon tank currently. He's got two other oscars in with him right now, but they are MUCH smaller and absolutely no competition to him.

We're in the middle of finishing our 135 gallon tank for them, so he's a little cramped right now, but won't be for long.

He was refusing to eat that food before the little guys went in with him, and he's still refusing to eat it. So it's not that any of the recent changes affected it.

He had been picking at it for a few weeks, eating the bare minimum and then he got sick when the pleco died (he lived in a rock so it took a day to notice). We thought that was what killed his appetite at first. So we got him a feeder fish as a treat and discovered that his appetite was fine, he just hated the food.

We took a look at Kensfish and it looks absolutely perfect. We're placing an order for a bunch of things soon.

They also have the best price for a brine shrimp hatchery, beating out amazon and even ebay, so my frog will be very happy!

I think it is the water quality, three oscars in a 30g is extremely overstocked. How often do you perform a waterchange and how much water do you change? I recommend doing a 30% waterchange today and see if his appetite improves.

I wouldn't go so far as to say extremely. The little oscars, are really REALLY little. It is also only temporary.

We've been doing 50% water changes every few days and the master test kit we have says that the water quality is just fine.

He's always been a picky eater. We've always had to rotate which pellets we give him every few weeks because he gets bored and refuses to eat them. As soon as we switch, he's fine.

This time, he wouldn't eat any of the pellets and we're out of options that the lfs sells. Kensfish food will do just fine and in bulk, is cheaper anyway

Glad to see your doing 50% waterchanges. With the variety ken provides you should be set.
