Hi All. I have two oscars in an 80 gallon bowfront tank. One is two in. and the other is 3in. They are alone in thier tank that I made it look like Ancient Rome, well I wanted to know what kinds of fish can live with them. I also wanted to know what kinds of bottem dwellers can live with them like fire eels. Also can you tell me what size should the other tank mates be if I put them in my Oscars tank so no eating eachother. Please and Thank You.

i would maybe get a pleco or some other bottom feeder but i would not add anymore fish to the tank..simply because their tank looks big at the moment with them only being 3 inches...but they are going to grow huge and you need that room for them...

hi hope this will help fire eels will do good if they are big enough not to get eatin. when keeping large fish like oscars you should fish of the same size like pleco who will grow large aswell. jack demsey, red devil, clown nife, tin foil barbs, shovel nose cats or any cat fish that will grow to a good size. i had oscars before and i must say they are cool But if you keep plants in the tank live or fake they will move them for you once they get big they are best keep in a tank with rocks and dec. also pellet food is the best way to feed. feeder fish will bring ick and fugus to your tank so look at the feeders to be shure that they are free of diseases if you buy them. there are many fish you can keep with them just make shure they will be around the same size. good luck with your fish. Bill

I agree w/Liz. 2 Oscars will easily overstock that 80G bowfront within a year, IMO, so I wouldn't add anymore fish. Os can grow to 14" and get territorial with one another, and are notoriously 'messy' fish with heavy bioloads. Now, if this is a growout and you're upgrading within the year, a 6"+ pleco or another cat around 6-12" max. size would work.

yeah i would go with a dempsey or a green terror. but thats it. those oscars are going to grow really quick.

Yeah you gotta fight the temptation to feed them. They will beg for food constantly. Try and only feed a fair amount of food once a day. If you feed them as often as they beg you, you will have 2 fish the size of dinner plates in no time.

I would go with Silver Dollars. You're really pushing it with two O's in a 80 gallon tank as it is, but Silver Dollars are very clean fish and they will provide you with a great deal of entertainment. They are a schooling fish so get 3 to 5 of them. They arent a flashy fish at first but as they get bigger their fins turn a nice red color. They will also follow around your O's at feeding time and eat up all the scraps. When I feed my O nothing really makes it to the bottom of the tank. Anything else though and once your Oscars are grown you will be changing the water almost every day. Not to mention the fact that Oscars are very territorial and hate when other fish invade their space. If you want more fish then get a 125 gallon or larger in my opinion.

Hi All. This tank is preety much a grow out tank, there is a tank I've been looking at, it's about 360 gallons. Thanks all for the monster info.
