you can tell by venting, when they are adults. , you can tell their sex by lookimg at their tube. females will have rounded tube while males will have a sharper tube

oscars are hard to sex

A female's vent will be larger than the anus (oO) and a male's vent will be pretty much the same size as the anus (oo). This method is more reliable with exerience and and the oscars have to be fairly large. Being inexperienced and quick to judge will result in inconsistent and unaccurate results.
