So I wake up today and come out to turn my fishtank lights on and notice water everywhere. I couldn't figure it out. I saw my fish laying onthe bottom of thetank. Assuming he was sleeping I nudged him with a net to make sure. everything seemed fine then about 10 minutes later he starts THRASHING violently around the tank.....hence spilling water EVERYWHERE! What could be causing this behavior??

Before anyone asks hes in a 90 gallon megaflow tank with 3 silver dollars and one pleco.

What do the other fish do? Any strage behavior on their part? Have you tested the water (temperature, Amonia, Nitrate, Nitrite, PH)? Check your equipment, make sure the heater isn't broken (this could cause fish to be electricuted), see that your filters/airpump are running as usual.

he probably just got spooked

if i go in my room at night and turn the light for the room on, my 3 start thrashing until they see me and they calm down..

Oscars are nuts. I bet your water is just fine. If needs be, you can actually discipline him with a stick or something but most likely you'll never figure out why he's nuts.

That is correct Sir. If the stick is of some easily recognizable colour, like red, after two or three times it'll be enough to show him the stick. Oscars are nuts but they aren't stupid.

Yea I said the same thing. My scat does that a lot. He will be just chilling in his cave and then he just takes off swimming and scary the crap out of the rest of the fish in the tank. This will go one for a good 5 minutes and then he just calms down and goes back into the cave.

Well the other part of the problem is that he's just sitting in the same spot on the bottom of the tank. He's completely inactive unless he's going insane. Which is unusual because he's usually greeting me at the door and what not (my tanks right when you walk in). I'm going to get a master test kit right now and do a pretty hefty water change. Hopefully that's gonna solve it. I did a half ass water change yesterday and filled up the overflow tank and didnt necissarly have enough dechlore for my liking. Maybe theres some chlorine that was still in the system.
