So the 60 is close and my oscar is ready to break out of the 20 tall he's been in since i got him. I'm thinking 10 serpae tetras, FM, convict, and raphael catfish. I wanna stick with south/central american fish. The tank will be dense with plants driftwood and rocks with lots of swimming space high in the tank.

What do u think? thoughts/input

so your keeping things with your oscar in the 60? idk for sure if serpae tetras would work, i think they could eventually be eaten..but the others might work wait for others to confirm this..

I think that's a bit much for a 60 gallon long-term. I hate to say it because I know that someone will step in and say that your 60 is perfect for an Oscar, but one Oscar needs more room than that by itself.

That is a lot of fish for a 60g, and I would add anything. Even a 75g wouldn't work with all of those fish. Plus the O would grow fast and eat those tetras pretty quickly.
If it were me I would ditch the oscar and keep the others in the 60g. Trust me, oscars grow fast and will out grow a 60g. I am one of those people who learned from past mistakes, and will never keep an oscar in a 4' tank. Any fish that grows over 12'' should be in a 6' tank IMO.

Well I'm planning on a larger tank, maybe 90, for the oscar by himself. Gotta add on to the house that is a storage now but will b a mans cave sooner or later. That should be with in the yr so i imagine the O will b pretty big by then. The lfs has "XL" serpaes on sale 10 for 10 and im all about survival of the fittest so no worries there. also, imo, they're pretty tough little sob's.

might just wait on the fm and con till i get a bigger tank and let the O grow up in peace. seems reasonable.

Got my pay pal conformation today for the rest of the plants n rocks I ordered so hopefully this week the tank will be done. The plan is going to be the oscar with the serpae tetras and raphael cat. I'll post some pics of the tank probably mid week looking for some more input and what I can do different.

I'm not sure about the needing more room part but you will have to do massive water changes to keep your nitrates steady.

My oscar was 6 inches and i still had him in the 46 gallon with some small fish, i had to do 2 50pct water changes a week to keep the nitrates below 40..

I'm doing 20 gallons twice a week for that and the DW still tanning the water a bit. A small O BGK and stripped raphael cat are in the tank while I'm surfing craigslist for something about 18 inches wide.
