My Zebra tilapia is getting very aggressive. It could be because he is getting to 7+" and it also could be the size of the tank hes in(20 long). Im trying to grow out my oscars so i can put my butti into their tank, without his destroying my oscars. Ive been feeding him cichlid staple. sinking carnivore pellets, Tetra cichlid sticks, and some cichlid gold. Blood worms occasionally as well. Anything else I should add in to help with growth of 1"+ a month?

You may have no luck with this combo unless you have a very large aquarium. Buttis can be brutal to even the most aggressive CA/SA cichlids. Oscars are generally at the moderate spectrum of aggression. So even if you do manage to grow the Oscars out, you may find them quickly dismantled by the Butti.

Dammit, i knew it was a bad idea to take him from my friend. I had my oscars in the bigger tank, so that they can establish their territories and keep themselves safe. And hopefully they size up before I put Dinner in.

Was this combo of fish going to be in the 65g tank? The poor Oscars will never have a chance in there with the Butti. Maybe in a 180g tank...

To answer your question. I would feed it market shrimp (raw), Cut up mussels, pellets and pea three times a day, seven days a week in till it hits 6-8 inches, then feed once a day, every other day after that... Up your water changes as well. You'll hit 8'' in no time.

I guess you could try "powerfeeding." Feed 5 to 6 times day until the fish's belly is slightly rounded. Increase temperature, maybe to around 86 or so. You're going to have to do large, frequent water changes. Think 75% every other day.

And even when they're all grown up, the adult tilapia will maul those Oscars.
