My first mistake was putting an Oscar with two Jack Dempsey, but they did well for a couple of weeks until this Saturday I found him half eaten. He has been alive since Saturday and I put him in a 5 gallon medicated tank.

My question is will he survive in this condition and will he ever get better? Is there anything else I can do to help him recover if that is possible.

Thanks for any help!!

im afraid he wont recover he cant completly regrow his tail

My leporinus regrew his entire tail from a tenesemis attack. It took about a month to totally recover I expected him to die but salt and heat and he did well it was a big bloody nub but healed over exponentially every day

He'll never recover to be the same as he was previously, but he will eventually require much of what he lost, if you give him the proper medication. But again even then you'll see that he'll be deformed. He is alive though, and so you have the choice now to let him live or otherwise. Who knows he could make quite a recovery, or just get worse and worse and start suffering (more).

I agree with others bring the fish up to it's dry grave.
