Oscar has small bump on it's body! Help!

Just noticed my O has a bump on his body near his tail fin. It's weird because the bump is not close to anything major. Also the bump is noticable but not so much because there is no change in color in that area. According to my brother, the oscar has had this for months. He is acting normal, eating, swimming about, with really no signs of problems.

Is this normal, is it serious, and can anything be done?

Once you post a picture we can try to ID the issue. Could be anchor worm but without a photo that's just a shot in the dark.
