i am cycling a 20g long tank now who long can i keep a small oscar in it. I know its not a life tank just wanna know how many months until an upgrade?

you could probably keep that oscar in it for about 3 months til it's like 3-4".
then the fish will require around a 50 gallon.
then it could probably live in the 50 gallon til it's about 7" then which should be around 6-8 months.
you'd need to upgrade to around a 70-80 tank once it's around 10-12"
they usually slow down around 9" but still grow very quick.

I agree with Dmaan. They grow so fast though you'd be money ahead to just look for a 75 gal minimum now and get him into it.

Yep, if you have a 20 long put a convict pair in there at the most.

Oscars put on more size every day. Not worth putting one in there at all.

Once my O was a year old I started wondering if 90 gal was really enough it went from Spatious to maybe jsut big enough for him.
