It was gonna happen sooner or later but my os arent getting along problem is this I had a 11 inch o in a 55 gallon that was getting to big so i got a nice christmas gift from my wife 100 gallon ofcourse it looked empty so i got another o for company for two months they were fine now the new o thats only 5 inch is picking on my 12 inch my bigi o is a wussy there not lip locking the problem is the little o wont let him eat every time i put food in he wont let the big eat he chases him away pushes him even thow hes smaller i new from the get go this mite happen figured i would give it a try anyway went got some silver dollars changed the decore around and lowered the temp from 82 to 78 i was told 82 is spawning temp and sometimes helps keep aggresion down would removing the little one for a few days let the big establish teratory then put the little one back in i have a good home to give the o two as a back up plan and im not atached to him my big guy his names red is 16 months old hes part of the family would a severume or maybe a fire mouth be a less aggresive tank mate as a option thanks for any info or ideas .

oscars become more mild as they get older except for when mating, they also require less food, which all leads to the why the little one takes all the food

try to feed in different places of the tank, i don't think you need to move them unless they have torn fins or wounds from fighting or bullying, severums are less aggressive but firemouths vary greatly in temperament

Its such a myth that oscars are tuff they really are gentale giants i have noticed the older one used to eat everything i threw in the tank now hes getting picky only eats what pellets he really likes i wont do anything drastic yet there not fighting lip locking or shaking tails at each other thanks for the reply

Usually oscars behave like that....as long as there are no damaged fins or body....it should be okay....my old O's use to fight and liplock.....they did it for like 1 month....then became peaceful again...just swimming together...

When he gets hungry, the bigger guy will eat the food he wants. Os just eat less aggressively the bigger they get.
