Nebraska
My friends Oscar ate a rock and then later tried to (for lack of a better word) poop it out. It got...stuck...for a while until he finally forced it out. But a few hours later a red, bloody thing came out of him. And just today some red things that looks like organs came out of his mouth. I don't know if i'm just seeing things but me and my friend both noticed that we think he is getting significantly smaller as well.

What is happening? Is he dying? What can we do. He is about a year old :(

Sounds pretty bad, I'll let some one else pitch in but it may be best to put him down with some clove oil:(

On a side note what part of Nebraska are you from. I'm originally from Lincoln =P

I'm from a small town by Grand Island. But I live in Lincoln now!

But, does anyone else have any suggestions or know what is going on?

give us a little more information. Tank size, water parameters, etc.

The reason I ask is because I'm sure there are plenty of fish that at some point will swallow a rock on accident. Environment can make a difference on how that may affect his reaction, health, and how he heals from the mishap.

The real key here is if he is still eating......as long as he is eating, he has a chance, if not, I would euthanize him.

Here's hoping he pulls through!

not sure. we did find something similar to what you described in our oscar tank. Didn't see him spit it out but it did look a little like fish insides. We were worried at first but he's still doing fine to this day. LIke pantera said if he's eating, wait it out and keep an eye on him. Maybe stress caused him to regurgitate something?

Ouch... :/ Hope he pulls through! I always fear this when my flowerhorn runs around with mouthful of rocks, moving em from one side of the tank to the other....
