Oscar HITH or just sensory pits?

It's in the O for a while now and I thought I will just check if it's a start of HITH or just sensory pits. He's alone in a 40x18x18 tank and I don't have test kits right so I can't tell what are the water parameters but I change 30-35% water every week and he's healthy and got no problem at all, he's 9" at the moment. Although it's not getting bigger or something but I thought I will just ask here to make actions early if it's really HITH.

great looking red Oscar, i would jump those water changes to fin level or 90% every week. all my tanks get fin level every week, there is no harm to the fish, more water you can change, the better water quality your fish living in.
