I am thinking of moving my oscar into a newly renovated pond for the summer. What is the lwest temp an oscar can take. I have heard it is 72 degrees but also that its 75 degrees. Will he even survive in an outdoor pond? He isnt really getting along with my clown knife in my 90 gallon tank. The knife sometimes beats him up at night. I dont know how old the oscar is since I adopted him, he is about a foot long though. Any advice would be greatly appriciated.
here is a picture of him:

72 would leave him suceptable to disease and if one happens, almost no chance of fighting it off at that temp. I would say 75 is minimum for health perposes. he would do great in a pond if kept warm. How big is the pond?

that sounds cool, huge O in the pond, but what about in the winters in Oregon, if a heater is bought i don't see a problem

yes get some pond heaters. actually since the clown knife actually gets so huge, any thought of putting the clown in the pool and keeping the O in the tank?

the pond is abot 300 gallons. its at 60 degrees right now. I havent seen any pond heaters that actually heat the water, they just keep ice from forming. The biggest aquarium heater i have seen is an 800watt, would that be enough?

I wouldn't recommend putting an aquarium heater in there it wont heat it properly but you definately try it. I would say if you can get the pond heater and can keep it at about 75 to 78 degrees then your solid and go for it. I would take it out for the winter though.

Yeah I wouldnt leave it in there over the winter, just to cold. I cant find a proper pond heater though. None of them I have found say they heat the water to 75 - 82 degrees. They just say they keep ice from forming and CAN keep the water at 40 degrees. Doesnt sound to promising.
I bet he would get bigger in the pond, I just want to see him have more room and not get bothered by the knife.
here is the pond he would be going it:
