most know i have had my oscars for a few years, now the issue, i went to feed them this evening and my large female was not hungry and is breathing heavy and not her usual thrash the water to eat, I notice she is 2 toned in the tail, lower half has gone a yellow color like liver failure.

posting a short vid, any ideal? they are in a 180 and doing a water change right now, more so i feel like I am doing something more than anything else.

Thanks.

Not sure on that one, but i would probably give her some epsom salt soaked pellets & your new clean water. Flush her system basically. Not feed for several days after & make sure my discharge tubes were facing up creating plenty of aeration.

Both seem to have the same coloration, but im on my phone. Maybe someone who has experienced this before will chime in.

Thanks, she will not eat anything. Have talked it over on my main board and pretty much decided its her time, keeping the lights out and letting her pass, I did another water change at 2am, I have 2 AC110 on the tank along with 2 bubble wands under the wood for aeration. she is just done. :(

hi ehh, 2.5 years, you know her from the pics in OFL when she was just a little girl.

she last spawned Monday, got me wet feeding Thursday,

pic of her last spawn Monday, and a few of her the Saturday before .

Bummer. She doesn't appear to be dying though. Just breathing hard.

I wouldn't dig the grave yet.

naa she dying ehh, lays in her spot and breathing hard. she the queen of the tank, always on patrol. she has made a few attempts but makes less than half across the tank and comes back to her corner by me, and sits on the bottom. gasping for air.

You could salt the tank and give her a 15 min bath in methylene blue. It will her respiration and improve her blood oxygen levels. I want to look at some journals to see what this is I remember seeing it before but I can't remember what it was.
