Alright I am new to this site. I joined because of something strange with my oscar. His head has all kinds of indents and cuts and things like that. i know it is not hole in the head because i used to ahve an oscar that had it. I am not sure if it is because he bangs hi head against one of his rocks or not. He has plenty of rrom to swim and i have moved the decorative rock to a corner so he now even had more room. I want to know if any knows if this is a disease or he jsut bangs his head up. He is a very moody fish and does occasionly speed around his tank when angry about god knows what. I want to know before its to late to do anything and what are anyones suggestions?

Thanks,
Decaf

P.S. Its one oscar in a 55 gallon tank

Hey,what's up? Just guessing, but sounds like it could be headworms.Try perma guard and some marine salt(just a little bit). See what that does for you. Headworms can impair his vision a little bit. Let me know if this helps in a couple days. Once you put permguard in, you should see some changes within a few hours. Let me know what happens. good luck. P.S. If your feeding him goldfish, STOP, and feed him rosies or some type of meaty food like krill or maybe some Omega pellets.

I have four oscars. Sometimes it may just be him acting belligerent and zip'n around the tank. It could be a parasite. I noticed my oscar hurt them selves at times being overly aggressive. Stop with the feeders for now. And add some salt and what ever treatment available to you. Something that kills parasites. Doesn't sound bacterial.
