I have a 12'' Oscar and a 9'' JD that mainly eat Hikari Staple and Krill. Are there any other treats they can have a couple times a week? Something like ants, crickets, mealworms, earthworms, or frozen baitfish?

earthworms are excellent food for oscars and JD'S. mine love them. i also feed meal worms as they are easy to breed, shrimp, blood worms and brine shrimp. (the cubes are much easier for the larger fish as they dont make as big of a mess) i also feed hikari pellets as a main diet. best worms ive found is walmarts for price and quality. many people feed them to their stingrays.
It rained yesterday so I gave them a few earthworms and they liked it. It looks gruesome though with all the cloudy blood coming from the oscars gills.
My oscars (4X-Large) love to be hand fed earth worms every day if I let them..... I also breed guppies for a treat once a week. =D
I feed my GT and Convict Hikari Gold, Bio-Gold+, Excel, and NLS daily. Ill feed them occasionally frozen blood worms, brine shrimp, and mysis shrimp. Their colors really pop especially my female Convict, she has orange, teal, and purple, on her belly dorsal and anal fin. Very impressive for a Convict in my eyes...
My Dempsey and oscar love rosie reds , night crawlwers ,large meal worms , frozen bloodworms and will occassionally eat cichlid pellets . jeff
I just set up a new 125 with a rena star xp3 and 2 300 watt heaters with 2 jewelo cichlids , 1 large leperinus , 1 6 " bluegill , 1 8" bulhead , 1 8" dempsey , 1 6 "plecco ,1 5" oscar , 1 5" sun cat and an 8" green sverin and they all get along good . I will be looking for something new soon doeas anybody have any ideaS . tHX jEFF
I'm on here talking about fish but sorry I was distracted by your picture , my compliments and I'm sure you could catch lots fly fishing in a bikini , LOL , back to your question mine love live food the best and yes the eartworms are find of messy and mine seem to like the meal worms much more any how .
