I dont know where to put this but I need help. Yesterday my oscar was fine. I heard some splashing after feeding time but just thought it was the bichir splashin around. I looked in the tank later and the oscar's right eye had been completely ripped out. There's now a gaping hole where his eye used to be. He's acting as normal as a one eyed fish can. still darts up to the front for food and everything. Theres a little bit of tissue trailing off the eye socket and I dont know if i should pull this off to reduce the risk of infection. Ive included some pics. Please help. I've only had him for a few weeks and he's my favorite fish. His only tank mates are a 10" bichir which I think took his eye, and a 4.5" pbass. he is about 4" himself.

the tissue in the hole in this pic is normally trailing behind him
as seen here:

theres not much ya can do, he will be fine and you will not see anything different in his patterns. You can add some melafix or some bacterial so there is no infection..Sorry about that bro..Hell be just fine....

Yikes! I just saw an O go through pop-eye and have the same result. My reaction was the same "yikes" The eye fell out and looked exactly like that.

He may have been attacked he is missing scales all over. Put him in the recovery tank for a a couple weeks. Add salt and perhaps start to administer penicillin and arithromiacin, cover the tank to reduce stress in the smaller tank.

He obviously won't grow an eye back but you could make him as well as he is gonna get ....

well the biggest recovery tank i can set up is 10gal. I dont really want to put him in that small of a tank becuase he acts fine and all. I'm def. goin to pick up some anti-bacterial chems for the tank. I hope he survives. At least it'll be easy to name him now.

nice work by that bichir. no offense, but thats pretty cool

lol. when i saw that i was like WTF? the ibchir is the only fish that could have done that. its amazing that he was able to get that close to the oscar let alone bite him seeing how my bichir is slow and cant really see that well.

Maybe u can fit the patchy the pirate eyepatch on him. Seriously though I have a catfish that has had one eye(RED TERROR) since 03'. He is one of the biggest and healthiest fish I have. I thought he was gonna die so I bought some rapheals. Now they are all huge.
