I was wondering if pictus cats would be good tank mates with two oscars? I have a 75 gallon tank I was wanting to add some cats to help clean(if pictus cats infact do clean).
I wouldn't suggest it. I had some before with a pacu and they striped it clean and as for oscars my friends foot long tiger ate his pictus and pleco!!! Even my LFS had considered moving the pictus cats out of their oscar tank because they are beating them up and the oscars are only 4" long!
Thanks I guess that wouldn't be a good idea since my oscars are about 7" long. Do you know of any cats would go good with the oscars. My cory cats do fine with them.
You could add a channel cat. I have one about 6" right now. they don't bother him and he don't bother them. Nothing really fools with a channel cat. They do get big though so just keep an eye on em.
Unless you have a ginormus tank channel cats arent really suitable. Most of the synodontis group of cats would work. Somtimes pictus can work it depends totally on the temperment of your fish.
I've had pictus cats be fine with oscars. Oscars arent that bad if they have their "space"
I would put a big no-no on a channel cat too. I had one hit 18" in about 2 years and he wasnt slowing down on growth.
I would check into some smaller cats, maybe a lima shovel nose, some synondontus, or plecos As stated above, it really all depends on the fish's attitude.
Areed. I will say that the channel cat is to big. I would go with the shovelnose cat. Forget that I even suggested the channel cat. I love the fish it just gets too big.
