A couple of things, if it's a 60" 120 it's really not the right size tank for 2 full grown Oscars (a 72" tank is a better length but still not guaranteed to work). As stated one of 2 things is happening mating or a aggressive fish. IMO because you had the red O in the tank by himself 1st, odd's are very high (90%) that he/she has laid claim to the tank and wants the other gone. Oscars typically are not sexually mature until they are around 18 months old and contrary to what you may hear they are not fond of company especially their own kind (unless they pair up then they have a very strong bond). With your's being only 6"-8" I don't think your problem is them mating.

I would keep a close eye on them over the next couple of weeks. They are more than capable of inflicting a lot of damage to each other.

They are both too small to mate. I have had same behavior when I had a smaller albino veiltail and a bigger tiger oscar. Always a tiger oscar beat on the albino, even now a bigger 14" albino veiltail is being pressured by the 12" tiger oscar female.

I think a 120 is plenty of room for 2 6-8" fish!!

And you would be right if they stayed 8" long!!!!

Read my post, I said adult fish. Both of those Oscars will 12" long by the end of the summer. A 5' tank is really not big enough it gives them no where to go to escape each other. If they are beating on each other now do you think its going stop as they grow larger and mature?

I have my 13" Oscar in a 5' 120 gl with 5 3" silver dollars, perfect harmony. He does get pissed at me during WC.
