Oscar Mating Question

I have a couple of Oscars and they seem to be mating, the problem its that they are locking jaws and by now they have realy hurt each other, i know they are mating because i have seen videos of oscars mating and they do the same moves, they had always get alone with each other but from a month ago from now they have started with this behavior.
the question is, is it normal that they get realy hurt? and if so will they regenerate the tissue in theyr mouth?

i have put them apart by the moment with a glass because one of them wont even eat because of the damage on its mouth but they keep trying to lock jaws thru the glass
