I adopted three large oscars 12 inches each and they are in my 135g. my questions is that they are very picky and dont want to eat oscar pellets. I have them for about 5 days now. I spend so much money for food already trying to find what they want to eat. do I need to worry about it or wait and see what happens.

oscars can be stubburn if they were on live food before you got them it may take alittle time to get them to eat pellets just make sure you take out what they don't eat

Some oscars are moody and will sulk when something upsets them unless hes actually sick sooner or later hell eat

the bigger/older the fish is the longer it will take to get accustomed to a new tank. I wouldn't worry just yet. they might not eat for a week and a half or even 2 weeks. just keep dropping in a couple of pellets each day and if they don't go for them then remove them and try again the next day. keep doing this until they finally do eat. by the way, do you know what the previous owner had been feeding them?

Oscars are such drama queens/kings. You just have to be as stubborn as they are. Offer them the pellets, if they dont eat them, scoop them out and wait til tomorrow and try again. A healthy Oscar will not starve himself.

i had the same problem......my oscars wouldn't eat flake or cichlid sticks.......i started feeding them plankton and bloodworms and they loved it.............. :grinyes:

Oscars stress easy 5 days is a bit soon yet make sure they have places to hide dim the lighting to a minium i used tinfoil with holes cut out to darken one side and a little light on the other they also prefer calm water so turn off the power head untill they are settled if you have one also the best food to entice a shy oscar is frozen krill they go nuts for it make sure its thawed
put a peice in when its been quiet for a while no sudden movements if it not eaten take it out and try again the next day and the next they will eat but they can be stubborn.
