I've owned oscar's and love their personalities but I've often been curious about jaguar cichlids and if they are as entertaining. Anyone know or have a preference on these two fish?

i think both have intense personality.
jag's are a bit more aggressive though.
you can keep both in communities or just as wet pets.
if you get a jag, i'd order it off of rapps or a vendor.
basement bred jags aren't as nice in my opinion!

I have both and living quite peacefully together. The female is about 8-9 inches and the oscar is about the same size. They are in a 250. Good luck.
i have had both, together then the jag matured and attacked the oscars so i moved him to a tank alone, but could not upgrade, he was great but love the oscars a little bit more as i can have a community with them,,,,,when i move to colombia i shall be having a few large tanks so will be getting a jag again
I like Oscars, but it seems like everybody has one or has had them. Since they both grow to around 16-18in and both have immense personality I'd go with the less common Jag.
I've had both. My Oscar was pretty calm and friendly. My Jag was bold and pretty aggressive. My Oscar would wiggle around with the "Please feed me" look while the Jag seemed like he wanted to attack me through the glass with a "Give me food" look
