Im just planning ahead but if you had to choose between two oscars or an oscar and a vieja which would you choose?

Oscars for their personalities and interactive behavior.

Viejas for their gorgeous colorations and unique varieties.

As Vieja age they tend to get more and more aggressive, and as oscars age they seem to me, to become more and more docile.
If that turned out to be the case in your tank, the oscar would be at a distinct disadvantage, especially if your tank wasn't at least 6 ft long, preferably more.
This may also depend though, on what species Vieja you have.
Some like breidhori and synspilum can be fairly docile,
(breidhori)

while others such as zonatus, argentea, or regani can become psychotic.

It would also help if both species were young when you got them, added to the tank at the same time, and were able to grow up together, each establishing a distinct and respected territory. (this is also where a long enough tank comes into play)

My Vieja is a synspilum and about 6-7 inches. They are in a 125 that is 6 ft long. The vieja is currently bffs with one of my baby oscars. I have a flowerhorn in there too.

Since your question was a rhetorical one, because you already have the fish, the scenario will soon play itself out one way or the other.
But if he flowerhorn lives up to its aggressive potential (that is, if is an alpha, trimac based, dominant gene designer fish), it will kill both the oscar and synspilum, or pair up with the synspilum if they are opposite sexes.
(trimac)

Well my question is to plan ahead. I am just growing them all out, so that I can pic my favorites. I can put my flower in his own 60 gallon if need be. I still would want to be able to choose between the second oscar or vieja depending on which one compliments the tank better. Really I had no idea flowers and viejas wohld pair up.

I'd do Oscars for the personality they provide. Vieja and Oscar would would but two Oscars would be s lot more interesting

If it were my tank I would do two oscars but thats just me. Or an oscar and some smaller fish like some thorichthys

Is there a chance that I can keep them all is I put the flower i its own tank? Or would that be too much for a 125
