Hey, just wondering what do other oscar keepers feed their oscar for pellets? I myself feed mine the Hikari gold pellets. Seems to like them. Oh and this looks like a solid site.

Hikari Gold. I give him that and some Tetra dried brine shrimp. With those two it's grown from 4'' to 5'' in a matter of three weeks.

Wow, quick replies. I feed my oscar the Hikari gold, but i forgot to mention i feed him freeze dried jumbo shrimp once in a great while and usually frozen krill throughout the week. Ive noticed much improved growth rates, and especially coloration from the high amount of carotene in his diet. Anyone have any experience with frozen mysis? I was thinking on getting some tommorow, and possibly some more freeze dried.

hikari is good. and the frozen krill is good too.

in fact. dont be afraid to give your Oscar a ton of different foods while still young. That will get him accustomed to a varied diet. Oscars do best with a supplemented diet. they grow faster, are healthier and more colorful and are less likely to develope HITH.

Try crickets, earthworms, meal worms, june bugs, white fish like cod, market shrimp (raw), even veggies like peas (skinned).

What Nikojin said, although Hikari is one of the better brands on the market. Mines don't really like the pellets, they enjoy flakes.

mine get a mix of large wardley pellets to fill them, and then small/medium OSI cichlid pellet for them to graze on for awhile after, and for the smaller guys.

Hikari Gold plets , Flaked food , Prawns , Peas , Blood worm and few other stuff .

Hikari bio gold cause they're so messy. Occasionally Cichlid excel.
Some market prawns and variety frozen foods such as blood worms & beefheart.
