Hi there,

I live in Cairns and have just dug out a 3600L in ground pool for my 4 oscars. Planning on a pressurised canister filter and in pond pump to match.

Does this sound ok ? I'm reasonably sure that it's warm enough here in the tropics for them to live.

Is a canister the way to go or should I look at making a gravity filter and put it on the mound at one end of the pond, pump at other end and then it can trickle back in down a waterfall ?

Cheers,

Andy

+1 for the gravity filter. A skippy is a good DIY that is proven.

Wow your pond sound like it's going to be a ripper. I use to have a 8m x 4m x 1m with huge gold fish in it. Oscars in a pond is such a cool idea.

Oscars are fine in CNS, just look at the size of the ones at forest gardens. I have one in a pond as well as pbass, never gets anywhere near cold enough to even worry them.

Gravity all the way, your talking pond filtration here not tanks, bottom drains etc.
