hiiiiii
i have a oscar of size around 6" the prob is that it only eats fish and bloodworms and do not accept any other food [in the LFS ]after buying its been around 2 weeks in my tank and hasnt consume a single byte yet what to do

I had the same prob when I bought one of my oscars. Thankfully, I had some convict fry and gave him a few to chase and eat. He is happily @5 inches now ( bought him at 1 inch) and living on black worms, minnows, and convict fry. Remember that oscars need time to adjust to their new environment. Yours might be taking a little bit longer than others.

Oscars will become used to eating one type of food and can be real knuckleheads when you want to mix it up a little.

in this case, you'll absolutly need to switch him to pellets. Feeding an Oscar only fish and bloodworms is not meeting his nutritional needs.

Your Oscar is waiting you out.
You'll cave and give him what he wants and what he's used to.

Here's the secret:

He wont starve himself. Dont feed him anything. You have to get him really hungry. Wait a few days, dont feed him a thing. Then offer some pellets. If he ignores them, then scoop out the soggy pellets, and repeat this process every day until he gets the point.
It sounds mean, but its for his own good.
He will eat them eventually. Trust me. They all do. Some of them will actually go without eating anything for 3-4 weeks before they finally cave in and eat the pellets.

There is a chance your oscar could be sick. So never forget to check your water parameters and double up on water changes for the next week or so to make sure water quality isnt the issue.

:iagree:
Oscars are gluts!!! He/she will come around eventually. You can also try earthworms or nightcrawlers they are very high in protien. But dont worry as long as it is healthy it will be begging like a dog for food in no time.

thank guys!!!!!!!

Again, i have to agree with the above comments! Starve him/her till your O takes the pellets. When he/she is finally taking them, you can mix it up a lil by feeding your O about 80% staple pellets and 20% other foods (bloodworms, krill etc.) per week!! It wont go as long as 3-4 weeks without eating and if it does its more than likely sick. I had the same problem that your having when i moved my O to my 120g and it took about a week before he came around?! Be patient tough lol?

agree with the other posters-starve that sucker into submission! lol
