hey i have a 46 gallon bow front with a tiger oscar about 4 inches a 4 inch african catfish and 7 inch senegal bichir. i added the tiger oscar about a week ago and he is always at the bottom.... one day i looked in the tank and the oscar had a big chunk of flesh taken out.. i keep an eye on the tank and he never got bit again but still on the ground never really swimming. he only eats when a piece of shrimp floats right in front of him. he has been this way for 1 week. WHAT SHOULD I DO?????

Thanks :)

if you have another tank, i would remove and isolate him, treat with salt and raise the temp

Yeah, that light is insanely bright. I'd expect an Oscar to freak out all day in a tank like that.

Wow that looks like it is dead wen you got him. srry dude. you bought a pretty much dead fish know if it has a big chunk in him. Would isolate him and raise the temp a little. Water must be top so he doesn't get infected then feed him a little more and make sure he eats. Only time can tell if he would make it.

Well, see the word on the bag? It says "Habitatitude". I think that motto comes from one of the major pet chains known for selling nasty half-dead oscars. So aside from getting a fish from a very risky source, he was probably ill at time of purchase and the stress of moving has been too much for him. I think you can save him, though.

Dim those lights, give him a place to hide, leave him mostly alone for a day. I know he's not eating dead food, so try holding an earthworm in front of his face for a minute and I'll be darned if he doesn't eat it.

He did not buy a dead fish. The fish was stressed in the bag but he was moving and showing attitude. Once he hit the tank water he was in trouble.
